Bio

This is Kristin Evihan...was born in 1974 in Istanbul...

Where are you originally from?
I am originally from Istanbul/Turkey

How did you choose the lovely name for your Etsy Shop?
The name of my second shop is RECYCLEJEWELS because I am using old/vintage materials with silver for my jewellery...I thought the name recycle can explain my style, my shop in a correct way...

How did you find Etsy? How long have you been selling on Etsy?
One of my best friend who is living in US, has told me in year 2007 when etsy was a baby...but I did not sign in for another 1 year...in 2008 I decided to open a shop, to understand the logic, I started buying some supplies...and in year 2009 I decided to have my own shop Evihan... and in July 2010 I opened my second jewelry shop Recyclejewels.

How would you describe your style? Have any other artists, etc influenced your style?
I am using anything such as old buttons, old porcelain plates, old cuff links, mixing with sterling silver and designing any jewelry pieces...I have an atelier/shop in a place where you can find out vintage, second hand or antique clothings, accessories, furnitures and etc...I visit those shops every week and they influenced my designs directly...my style reflects my freedom of using materials and colours...can summarize as freestyle:-)))

How did you first come to art and creativity? How did your journey in art and creativity begin?
When I was going to elementary school, there was a hobby class and I was painting plastic leaves and wallnut shells to make decoration items... that was the beginning I would say..

How long have you been creating? that you love so much?
My profession of creating, having atelier and shop started in November 2003.. creating and selling it's a big part of my life....

What are your main sources of inspiration?
Nature and people...my observation...

I sell mostly vintage porcelain plate series...rings, necklaces, earrings...

How has life affected your art and art affected your life?
Meeting with many people who like my art and making small collection of them is really exciting me all the time...and that is making me to work more , try more, design more and more...

Do you have a favourite item you have made?
I like to use old buttons as rings...

What is the best reaction you have gotten from one of your pieces?
People can not believe that I am using old broken plates with my designs ...they find this style very useful...

Your message for all of us?
Help the Environment by Recycling....

Etsypromolove interview: Mairitales

Last interview was about Eleonora Esposito/fashion designer!
This time i want that you meet a special Italian creative! She is Roberta / Mairitales and she made lovely things for a dreamy, magic and little world!
She is like me a member of the Etsypromolove team!

Bio:
Hello! :) I'm Roberta, 39 years old, married and happy.
Ciao! :) Sono Roberta, ho 39 anni e sono sposata e felice.

Where are you originally from?
I'm from Rome, in Italy, a big, caotic, ancient city.

How did you choose the lovely name for your Etsy Shop?
Mairi is my first nickname on internet. When I was searching a name for my shop, a friend of mine suggested MairiTales, with an eye to "fairytales".

How did you find Etsy? How long have you been selling on Etsy?
I find Etsy in its first year of life, when a miniaturist wrote about this new platform in an italian mailing list, but I've opened my shop only ten months ago.

How would you describe your style? Have any other artists etc influenced your style?
I not have a unique style, some of my creations are funny, others have a note of shabby chic style, others are odd and fit a fantasy world. A lot of artists influenced my multiform style, too many to list here.

How did you first come to art and creativity? How did your journey in art and creativity begin?
I've always dreamed and created, as a play when I was a child and as an idea for a job in the last four years. I have to say my first love was not for miniatures but for fantasy literature, I love writing poetries and short tales.

What are your main sources of inspiration?
The main source comes from my dreams, then from literature, songs (epic and gothic metal), on line multiplayer and roleplaying games, nature (I have a degree in Natural Science), internet, the world around me.

Have you had any mentors, or are you self taught?
Both! I've learned a lot from artists as Daniela Messina, Silvia Cucchi and many other miniaturists or polymer clay artists and from books, like Angie Scarr's first "food in miniature" book and then also for myself.
Entrambi!

Do you sell more at one time of year than others?
It depends on the kind of creations, but there isn't a real difference from a month to another.

What is one thing about your creative process that you think most people don't know?
I create in a caotic way, without projects, moved by the intuition and the mood of the moment.

Wedding cake / Chocolate tart / White cake and chocolate rose / White and black chocolate truffles / Black chocolate cake

How has life affected your art and art affected your life?
I prefer to say "dreams" and not "art". I feel myself not as an artist but a dreamer... hey wait! I begin to see all the items around me as potential pieces to use in 1/12 scale, for miniatures. It is a bit upsetting but so funny!

Do you have a favorite item you have made?
Maybe the "Cosi", a sort of balls covered with a colored blanket and with a pair of big eyes... they will conquer the world!!! Muhahaaaaa!!!
Muhahaaaaa!!!

What is the best reaction you have gotten from one of your pieces?
The surprise and the smile on people face.

Your message for all of us?
Have the courage to hold the fire of creativity inside you... beware of the burns!

I am a dreamer and when i was a little girl i was used to lie down on the grass and watch the sky and the clouds... in my mind a lot of little angels were used to play on these clouds so i was waiting to see one of them ;P! i also loved finding similarity between clouds and real object ;D
So every time i am on a plane i love to sit near the window and look at them from a different point of view!!!! and you?

Etsypromolove interview: Eleonora Esposito

This interview is about a really talented Italian fashion designer, Eleonora Esposito, that is like me member of the Etsypromolove.

eleonora esposito, fashion designer, etsy, dress, bikini, monokini,Miss bronze _ Miss pink peach _ Miss lilac

Bio
My name is Eleonora, I’m a fashion designer and illustrator freelance, I studied fashion since I was 14 years old, because I always been interested to create something that represented myself and my point of view about fashion, and is the same reason I decided to create and made on my own a collection of unique and exclusive models.

Where are you originally from?
I was born in Naples ( Italy) where I live and work. This city give me a lot of inspiration every day.

How did you find Etsy? How long have you been selling on Etsy?
I’m seller on Etsy since last October. I have found Etsy on web, I have read many articles about it, and I decided to visit it because I was very curious , and at the same time I was searching a site where to open a shop. I was very impressed by the talent of many sellers and the high quality of their creations, so I decided to open a shop on Etsy.

eleonora esposito, dress, croquet, fashion, unique creations

How would you describe your style? Have any other artists etc influenced your style?
My concept of woman is feminine, sweet, romantic, and sensual. My creations are handled accurately by paying careful attention to detail, both in cuts and shapes. In particular, I try to create clothes that can make a woman feel comfortable, at ease with what she wears, and original all at the same time. Also my illustration reflect my concept of a woman. There are many artists that I love for different reasons, for their personality, for their point of view and of course for their creations. As a fashion designer my idol is Coco Chanel, I really adore her, she was the only queen of the haute couture she has create a new way to make fashion. She is an inspiration for me also because she learns that you don’t need to wear or create absurd dress to be fashion or elegant is the style that make the difference.

How did you first come to art and creativity? How did your journey in art and creativity begin? How long have you been creating that you love so much?
Since a was a little girl I spent a lot of time drawing and making new dresses for my dolls! I was very interested to look every details and people that have style and personality. I was 14 years old when I decided that my future was in fashion industry. I started to study fashion, I have a diploma as Fashion Designer and Illustrator, and two masters in Fashion. So and I will start to work as fashion designer for some industries. In the 2005, I was in a sad moment, so I decided to start something that make me feel better so I started my own collection. I love my job it’s part of me, I can’t live without creativity.

What are your main sources of inspiration?
I have a lots of inspirations, I love the Art Nouveau, the 70’s icons like Audrey Hepburn and I love to make research in the vintage market . I think that you can find inspirations also looking people in the street, or during a travel. Creative people can find inspiration everywhere they go.

Miss roby pink _ Miss purple

What is one thing about your creative process that you think most people don't know?

Many people ask me how can I draw a dress, and I always said that the dress lives in my mind, I already see it ready to become real. One of the most beautiful thing to be creative is the moment when you got inspiration and you create in your mind and then you draw it, and you made it real. To see the complete work is an incredible moment.

How has life affected your art and art affected your life?
I love what I do, it’s my life. I have choose to be a fashion designer, because was inside of me. To create is my way to be happy, that make me feel complete, it’s a work but is especially a big passion. Creativity has always been a part of me and helped me even in difficult and sad moments.

Your message for all of us?
Believe in your dreams and yourself. Be humble and always ready to learn.

Geometrical fashion

I made this brooch for the monthly challenge of the Cic Team! The theme was "Geometric Shapes" and I wanted to make a brooch for my shop! I love brooch, to close scarf, jacket or to embellish a bag, and i am really proud of the result because the paper seems like leather and also the colour is lovely!

Browsing on Etsy i found other lovely geometrical creation!!! have a look!
_________
